We’ve recently updated you on the 48-unit mixed-use project that is under construction near 7th and Girard and the 20-unit building that is topped out just behind it. There’s also a 285-unit, mixed-use, adaptive reuse project wrapping up at 9th and Poplar and a 120-unit, mixed-use project that is nearly topped out at 10th and Girard. There are several other significant projects nearby that we haven’t gotten around to covering yet. This area is booming to say the least.
Let’s add another project to the mix. Just north of Girard Avenue at 1223 N. 7th St., construction permits were issued today for a 4-story, 55 foot tall, 31-unit building with 18 underground automobile parking spaces and 11 bicycle stalls. The building will also have a roof deck and a green roof. The parcel has a thin strip that extends back to Marshall St., where the parking ramp entrance will be located.
The project rendering depicts a light-colored brick facade with a stone base and a black cornice and bays. We’d say that the building looks pretty nice overall, and definitely is better than a vacant lot. 31 or more additional people in the neighborhood should help keep eyes on the streets and me a spark for nearby businesses.
How do you feel about this project?
