We’ve seen a handful of mid-rise mixed-use and multifamily buildings developed in Roxborough over the last few years. It looks like another is in the pipeline. Zoning permits were issued last week for a 3-story building with 50 residential units, ground floor commercial space, 22 parking spots, 17 bicycle stalls, and a roof deck at 5542-44 Ridge Avenue.
This 24,916 square foot, CMX-2 zoned parcel runs street to street and has a curb cut on both Ridge Avenue and Mitchell Street. The property is currently the home the a dentist office along Ridge Avenue and a bunch of storage garages behind the main building. Demolition permits were issued in June for the dentist office building.
We don’t have any more details about the project at this time and have yet to see project renderings. It will likely be a unique building due to the shape of the parcel.
Although we will be sad to see the handsome main building demolished, we appreciate the residential density that this project will bring to Roxborough and are happy that a commercial space will be included. What kind of business would you like to see open in this location once the new building is finished?
