It was back in June of 2019 that we told you about plans for a 3-story overbuild of the Jarvis Building in Callowhill. That project entailed 90 residential units, office space, and the existing NOTO nightclub at the base of the building. Since then, the former surface parking lot next door has been absorbed into the project and the plans have grown.
The new project entails a 2-story addition on top of the Jarvis Building and an 8-story addition on top of the former surface parking lot. It includes 120 residential units, 36 mechanical automobile parking spaces, 40 bicycle stalls, and all existing uses within the original structure – including NOTO nightclub.
We went by the site today and construction is well underway with steel framing on top of the Jarvis Building along with on the site of the former parking lot.
We’re happy to see a Center City surface parking lot get developed, for the Jarvis Building to get a refresh, and for 120 new homes to be added in such a prime, transit-accessible location. We do wish that the corner of the new building contained commercial space. Instead, it holds the mechanical parking access point. We wish the parking entrance were located on 12th Street and a more active use was reserved for the corner.
How do you feel about this project? Would you like to live at 12th and Vine?
